Gang Starr - Full Clip
When looking at this video I noticed that for editing it uses fades to change the location and different shots , for the shots there close ups and mid shots , low angle shots and using the fish eye for an extra effect , the artist during the video speaks about everything what he has done and making himself sound amazing and the best in the game and reinforces this through lyrics , there isn't a narrative as such just various different shots which relate to hip hop and further into the end of the video the camera shakes which could connote he's frustrates with life and why people don't understand who he is.
Blackalicious - Deception
When looking at this music video It was hard to dived weather the video was going be creative and more on the story side of just random but I realised that it was both , There wasn't to many different shots because most of them we're tracking shots following the actor chase the money but it all relates to the song because it speaks about chasing fame and money from music and how much success he has had so I think that this videos what he used to like before his record made it large and what he used to be like other shots that we're used are ones such as wide angle shots , close ups and mid shots and low angle shots at the start and I think this is a very create in-depth video.
Eazy E - Real muthafuckin G's
When looking at this video I notice that the narrative doesn't relate to lyrics and is a little random , can tell that It didn't take long to put it together , many different shots like high angle , tracking shots , close ups and zoom using these to good effect to keep the audience awake and concentrated on the various different events but this video was simple to make and but the song fitted with the locations and mise en scene .
DMX - Where The Hood At (Dirty) (HQ)
When looking at this video I first feel like its a faster paced music video compared to the others which are much slower and with the quick shots it feels a little like a montage and more example of this happen further into the video where it interchanges with the artist as close up and mid shots to the crowd or other large wide angle shots of the area and keeps doing the same motion duration of the Chorus , Throughout the video it changes the location around 3-4 time , many different shots for instance low angle , high angle , close ups and mid shots , not much editing during the video mostly fades and cuts.
Ty "Emotions"
When looking at this video I noticed that it started with many different establishing shots and it is very calm at the beginning and then a tracking shot moving into a mid angle shots of the artist switching angle to the beat of the song , as the song gets quicker more and more angles come into play and then it add a new location to change some of the things up , little bits of effect in the back ground when he is up high like fireworks because he is talking about celebrations , The narrative of the song links with the visual image of the video , further into the video more and more location different angles and the quicker it gets and with the chorus it down wide angle shot of things other then the artist to change it up .
Roots Manuva - Let The Spirit
When looking at this music video I noticed that it used the normal shots and nothing to special like close shots , extreme close ups , wide angle shots , establishing shots , for editing they use fade , every one or two seconds it changes from the artist to something else so it doesn't bore the audience and the visual image links with the song lyrics, sound and throughout the video he speaks about life and the challenges that you have to face and that you have to have a spirit and make it move you and don't control it .
Mos Def - History ft. Talib Kweli
When looking at this video I notice that It starts that it is in back and white and this is easy identifiable because they start with an establishing shot and changing the angle of the shot and the shots at the start are slow wide angle showing loads of detail and this carries on further but it also speeds up the process of shots , the focus changes of some of the shots changes when it is either changing scene or going into a scene or verse leading into some importance lyrics and become much close to the artist .
De La Soul - The Magic Number
When looking at this video I notice that the visual image matches the beat of the song and is all the way through and start of with a establishing shot , mid shots of the people dancing but doesn't have any close ups of them singing but gives you a clear message of what meaning they are wanting from this video , they want people to dance and have fun .
Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
When the song starts you can tell that its going to match the video because the shots are quick and its matching with the beats and no establishing shots just close up shots to start and then it switches from low light to high light but then I soon realise that this is because the visual images links with the song and therefore this happens throughout the whole video and continues with the same type of shots , creating a little bit of repetitiveness which make the video a little boring not wanting to watch it all the way through .
Mercy (Explicit)
One of the first thing that I notice about this video was that it was in black and white and that the screen has been compressed to the middle of the screen which made you concentrate hard on what was happening , the movements of the camera was linked with the lyrics and there isn't many different shots , it has mostly used tracking shots moving around creating a panorama effect for the views which is quite strange and iv not seen it been done before and would be very hard to recreate for my music video and at the end of the video it used zoom to create a effect but it confuses the view a little bit , some of the things in the video seemed a little random from my susceptive .
