Extended website project (video)

I am creating a video for the website which I going to have a walk through of the locations and actors and behind the scene footage of the making of Chasing a Dream.
This being one of the first pieces of the video and I am applying text and filters to make it have that professional glow.

In the second lesson, I  added the first background tune which is slow and smooth allowing the audience to see the locations in more detail and but also applying the second tune. During this lesson I also place short parts of the video to entertain the audience.

After school I have been applying more and more shots playing around with the clips and placing some more text and I feel that I am around 92% done and only need one or two things left to do until it is ready to be applied onto my website for the extended video. I am going to export the video and name it as a draft and get audience feedback tonight.

This is the draft that I have exported-

Feedback
Soon after I posed my video on Facebook I received two comments, It was more positive rather then negative feedback.

Website Process(Draft 50%)

In todays lesson I started to create my website, after realising that my old design didn't look good enough and didn't match the standards that I wanted but this gave me a great knowledge on how to use the website, so I knew with the right ideas my next design will look much better and fit the criteria that I am aiming for. This time it didn't take me very long because I thought about the content of my website and what, where it was all going and after deciding on the colour to have it all became quite easy, just adding the details.
The one is in the top hand right is the old website and the new one is down bellow.

Backpage (Digipak)

These are some of the digipaks that I have taken inspiration from to create my digipaks myself, using the simplicity from the first digipak making it look neat and tidy but adding a background glow to make the writing stand out slightly more and bring out the importance.

I taken the idea to use copyright regulation placed down at the bottom of my page and I am going to background light on Photoshop to make it stand out also I have managed to find the sponsors relates to the rights and regulation.

Thirdly I have made the different songs bold standing from the background making it look significant from the rest and more important and I have made more alteration and adding more details from continues research and still don't feel that it is finished and the photo below shows what I have done at the moment just need to add some changes.

(This photo not being the finished version)

Website and Digipak photos (1)

These are just some of the many photos that I have been editing for my website and digipak specifically designing these to link to my video and genre.

I am going to use some of these for various different reasons, I feel that with the close ups and mid shots these could be used as profiles pictures, when introducing the artists telling the audience who they are with background knowledge and why they have chosen to make and start performing.

Secondly I have decided that  some of these photo will be used throughout my digipak adding different text and features to fit the purpose and originality this coming quite easy after I gathered the right photos and learnt how to play around with the photos on Photoshop.  Thirdly using some of these image for advertisement usage on magazines and other platforms and More photos will be available on the website when it is created for people to view this post being a update but also a sneak peak at some of the photos.

Digipak design (1)

Been online and someone recommended a online website called Dafont which gives you various different and I have chosen to test out one or two font, in the end I have decided to use the one to the right.

The process doesn't  take a long time to perform, I have had to screen shot the text from the website or download then drag and drop it into Photoshop and using the magic eraser tool which removes the background just leaving you with the text and then you are able to move the text around and changing the setting and playing around until it looks good and after doing that for awhile I have ended up with the product to the right.

Feedback from the actor (1)

After todays time out of class and filming the last part to the video I thought that It would be a good idea to see how the actor felt about the whole process. This is a short video because surprising he's a little shy and doesn't know what to say but overall I'm glad that not just me but he's also enjoyed the process and likes that way its going, I also feel that without feedback the video wouldn't of improved as much therefore this being one of the most important parts during the creation of my video.

Finishing touches (2)

During the lesson yesterday I made a list with some of the optional corrections that I am deciding to do.
So in today’s lesson I decided to recorded more of the chorus because from the feedback it made me realise that the video became a little repetitive and boring for the audience to watch so I went out and gathered more footage in a new location this extending the locations to 5/6 and recording 198 clips altogether, I feel that the large amount of footage has helped me to create such a diverse video and because I finished recording most of the video on one day it has massively improved my time management.
  1. looking through the improvement I said that some of the filters needed to be improved so I have decided to go through and try and blend one or two of the clips to make it transition better from one angle to another.
  2. I also said that it looks like it’s showing to much of the clip and he starts to look away from the camera making it obvious that its cut and placed together and I have been through and changed the length so this doesn’t happen anymore and it has helped more with the lip syncing, I have also changed the volume of the track so it doesn’t seem as overpowering when the first artist is performing.
These correcting make me feel like my video is completed but there still may be little things that I might need to correct which is why I have kept the saved file on Adobe.

Self evaluation of my final draft (1)

After todays lesson I rendered my video calling it my final draft after today because I have been adding some of filters and adding some more clips and now I have looked through the video to see what needs to be improved.
  1. The first low angle shot at 15 seconds, the filter could be improved.
  2. Need to lower the volume of the song to make it not as overpowering because when it is higher volume the visual image doesn't have the same effect .
  3. Look at some of the video clip and maybe make them shorter because it seem like its showing to much of the clip and he starts to look away from the camera making it obvious that its cut and placed together.
  4. Record the second location for the chorus to make it more entertaining as the choruses get longer and slightly boring.

I Feel that if I improve these things my video will be finished and I can think about making my Website and Digipak.

Finishing touches (1)

In todays lesson i wish to look through the whole of my video and making sure that all of the lip syncing is good and not out of place, Test filters to see what effect it may have on the video and maybe change one or two clip because sometimes there are variation in quality.

I have decided to add the brightness filter and contrast changing the contrast boosting it up to 18 and it changes the state of footage by making it strikingly different and more darker bringing the attention of the footage more obvious and to the centre of interest and making the subject elements more detailed and interesting for the audience.

Production blog(1)

Throughout the making of this video I created small little videos of the location and explaining what I will be doing and I thought that I should make a small animation video for the introduction, didn't take me to long just states the name of the video, these videos are going to be created and uploaded after the actual video is made and distributed for my audience to enjoy and see how it was created.

Feedback (Music video Production)

  1. Today in lesson I had the chance to show my video to the rest of the group to gather feedback and their opinion on the different techniques and shots which have been used throughout the video which I have produced so far.
  2.  They thought that my video had a good amount of locations, It suited the song but the colours of the third location did make it drift away from the grimy Hip Hop look and might need to be changed and the costumes fitted the purpose and actors themselves not looking to stereotypical.
  3. The lip syncing is good but sometimes it does struggle and might need to be improved, People seemed to like the jump cuts and low angles making the actor look intimidating.
  4. However the teacher did say that the chorus because it is repeated three time started to become repetitive and boring so I might need to change or implement a new location and whilst there I would improve some of the framing during the chorus it does show to much space around the actor and making him look small and less important and I don't think that its good enough but I could change this when editing or whilst re-shooting and hopefully I don't make the same mistake.
I am going to definitely take this feedback in that people have said and change some things throughout the video and hopefully make it much better and receive more marks.

Social media (1)

Created a Facebook page allowing me to promote it much easier to my friends and other people that might be interested in Music videos and Hip hop, I will be updating this each week leading up to the distribution of the actual videos and letting them know the progress with photos and statuses. This also allowed you to connect Instagram and that would be a good way of extending the audience and reaching to the target audience.

Leading up to the practice shoot(My Thoughts)

Firstly I started to plan the music video and it all seemed daunting and such a challenge for me to complete  but when I started to plan it more in detail it seemed much of a realist task.
I Started with dividing the song into different parts 1, 2, 3, then gathering the two actors and allocating the parts and then analysing the lyrics and then researching  Hip hop videos  and I realised that they have a large amount of movement and different shots and transition changing to different location and then I went straight to planning my animatic and gathering information on locations.

Soon after I spoke to the artist organised the first practice shoot which was held at the church and because of my planning I knew that the chorus was simple  and wasn't going  challenge the actor, then soon after we practiced the lyrics we started to recorded, making sure I changed angles and repeating the process's over and over again to have enough footage for the video and giving me some options.

Secondly following the first practice shoot I felt more confident but a little unsure if the quality would of been good enough compared to the rest of the video because I wasn't actually controlling the camera this was because I was  acting in the second, volunteering to play the role mostly because of last year having the confidence to be in front of the camera and not many other people would travel to the location to perform the role, on the practice day me and my friend got the location and started  prep my equipment and other item to inevitably be ready to practice the song, soon after I shared my thought with my friend and explained that I was finding far to easy to waste time practicing explaining that I practiced the lyrics beforehand one or two day prior.

Straight After we started to recorded the video dividing the parting into different section and spending about an hour recording, going through the whole of the song many different time getting enough footage to suite my satisfaction and I felt that that it went smoother than expected,  gathering all of the shots that I needed to complete that section of the song and this was all possible because of my detail planning following both my storyboard and animatic without them I wouldn't of been able to complete that section so easily.
