What did we learn from AS media ?
What did you learn from AS media ?
We had to create a video explaining what we have learnt overall from the projects which we have completed, the research and the exam and how that help us finish our first year .

Research into my music video.
The 1980s marked the diversification of hip hop as the genre developed more complex styles, Early examples of the diversification process can be identified through such tracks as Grandmaster Flash's "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel" (1981), a single consisting entirely of sampled tracks.
Example.(1)
Electro music was fused with elements of the hip hop movement, largely led by artists such as Cybotron, Hashim, Planet Patrol, Warp 9 and Newcleus.
New school hip hop
The new school of hip hop was the second wave of hip hop music, originating in 1983–84 with the early records of Run-D.M.C. and LL Cool J.
Example.(2)
As with the hip hop preceding it (which subsequently became known as old school hip hop), the new school came predominately from New York City. The new school was initially characterized in form by drum machine-led minimalism, with influences from rock music.
Hip hop music became commercially successful, as exemplified by the Beastie Boys' 1986 album Licensed to Ill, which was the first rap album to hit #1 on the Billboard charts.
Example.(3) Beastie boys -The New Style
Golden age hip hop
Hip hop's "golden age" is a name given to a period in mainstream hip hop—usually cited as between the mid-1980s and the early 1990s—said to be characterized by its diversity, quality, innovation and influence.
This was the time of trying new things with different genres and some of the albums had a strong jazz influence.
Example.(4)
Gangsta rap and West Coast hip hop
Gangsta rap is a subgenre of hip hop that reflects the violent lifestyles of inner-city American black youths and The genre was pioneered in the mid-1980s by rappers such as Ice-T, and was popularized in the later part of the 1980s by groups like N.W.A Ice-T released ''6 in the morning''
Example.(5)
N.W.A is the group most frequently associated with the founding of gangsta rap. Their lyrics were more violent, openly confrontational, and shocking than those of established rap acts, featuring incessant profanity and, controversially, use of the word "nigger". These lyrics were placed over rough, rock guitar-driven beats, contributing to the music's hard-edged feel.
Example.(6) -N.W.A
Mainstream breakthrough
In 1990, Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet was a significant success with music critics and consumers. It was highly contributory to hip hop's mainstream emergence in 1990, dubbed by Billboard editor Paul Grein as "the year that rap exploded"and from then after Enemy's 1989 single "Fight the Power", rapper Tone Lōc's single Wild Thing being the best-selling single of 1989 and then hip hop started to become a common thing with new artist trying to get into the market every day.

Comparing to my video
Aim - Ain't Got Time To Waste
Looking at the the different ages of music and trying to find where about my music would of fitted into was quite difficult but i think that my song fit between 1980 and 1990 because after 1990 and more people start to do it the type of rap changes and becomes more quicker and agressive rather then my song which is more laid back and slow and could also be catagorised into the Golden age.

Different theorys ''Male gaze'' and Andrew Goodwin''
The 'Male Gaze' theory
- In her 1975 essay "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema", Laura Mulvey introduced the second-wave feminist concept of "male gaze" as a feature of gender power in film. The concept was present in earlier studies of the gaze, but it was Mulvey who brought it to the forefront. Mulvey stated that women were objectified in film because heterosexual men were in control of the camera.
Andrew Goodwin
1. Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics. (E.g. stage performance in metal videos, dance routine for boy/girl band, aspiration in hip hop).
2. There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals. The lyrics are represented with images. (Either illustrative, amplifying and contradicting).
3. There is a relationship between music and visuals. The tone and atmosphere of the visuals reflects that of the music. (Either illustrative, amplifying and contradicting).
4. The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close-ups of the artist and the artist my develop motifs which recur across their work. (A visual style).
5. There is a frequency reference to notion of looking. (Screens within screens, mirrors, stages etc.) and particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body.
6. There are often intertextual references. (To films, TV programmes, other music videos etc.)

Fisheye lens
Iv watch some Hip hop videos and noticed that some of them use the Fisheye effect that produces strong visual distortion intended to create a wide panoramic, Fisheye lenses achieve extremely wide angles of view by forgoing producing images with straight lines of perspective. They are generally used for their uniqueness and distorted appearance. For the popular 35 mm film forma and the lenses are between 8 mm and 10 mm for circular images, and 15–16 mm for full-frame images.
Some examples shown in the photos but i have placed a music video below and it is during the whole video it shows the various different types but mostly full fisheye effect.

Creating the preliminary video (Jessie j )
Firstly i started to use Adobe premiere pro and its was going fine cutting the clips to match the right part of the video but after shutting it down and logging back in the files and adobe didn't seem to work,We thought that i could of been the jessie j music Video currupting the save and not making it work but after trying to make it work i decided to use a different platform called serif movie plus.
This platform is more simple but you can still edit at the same standard as Adobe premiere pro and after hours of editing i finished the video with only slight mistakes because i didn't realise some of the feaures if u wanted to slow down some of the frames for instance it extends the clip length and would of made my other clips out of sync so i should of performed that first and i also havnt done the cross dissolves when each of the clips change but i dont think that i am going to amend the mistakes because i dont feel that they have a large effect of the because they are so small and
insignificant.

Overall thoughts of Filming #3
I Thought that the filming went well but then looking back made me question if we have filmed enough after taking out the mistakes and i also thought that the video wouldn't be good enough quality to actully enter the video but when when we actully looked at the video footage I feltthat the quality is better then expected and suprised because I havn't done much filming before.
When was in class we got informed the problems from Sir and the biggest thing which came up is that we've missed out some shots that are needed to be in the video, so we are going to have to deal with by using some spare footage to make up what we are missing and I think that from this project I have learnt that I need to be more prepared for the actully task epecially when im on my own because I wouldnt want to keep re-shooting and changing the video, I have also learnt that it is easy to say what i will do but actully filming became a little harder so that would just be involved with prepriation and practice and that i will need to think more detailed
Now have just to put all the footage together and see which I can edit, then putting that into the Adobe premier pro.
