Promotional video's (1&2)

For my promotional videos I have basically created two short videos to promote my video they both basically shows small clips of some of the locations the artists, the different shots but the intention of not giving to much away,  just enough to cause some attraction towards the video and make people think about it and I hopefully its gets a good reaction from other people and a good first impression to my target audience and video number two is the just with the second actor, hopefully people like the look and I will be asking people in class for feedback for there first impressions.

Practicing My Part (1)

I ain't got time to wasteMy man locked up steady, got seventy thousand hoursHe got knocked cause he cracked through the bill powers
I hate to say it was the streets, cause the s**t's varied
I left the yard in ya comminsary
It's the only thing you got now, I wish you told me somethin'
'fore you got locked down, now I'm missin you
And I used to cock missles, ?live? issues
Tree flesh and sky tissues, rip through it
If it beef, we will get to it, toss he to it
Watch it cook, and didn't care if ya look
Ski mask had the face covered, keep ya eye
On ya girl, cause I like to covet, sneak on 'er
Make her mom make you be on her, you like to cheat on 'er
Now she at the crib I like to freak on 'er
You in my face, we can speak on it
You wanna talk, or do you wanna put the HEAT on it...

I thought that because my location is a little further away then the other location I would volunteer to act in my video, remembering from last year I wasn't really into creating videos but over time  my confidence has advanced, now don't mind, I thought that asking other people to follow my instruction and planning to record me and my actions would be fine. This video is basically going through lyrics and practicing three times.

From the process of this video I realised its wasn't as easy as I expected, looking through the video and matching the lyrics up with the video, I felt that in some areas It needs to be improved for instance the emotions and enthusiasm in the video towards the lyrics but could blame this on the amount of times which I have performed the song but doing this has made me more prepared for the actual video which during that I wont need to speak for the whole song but for 75% because there will be cut ins and outs allowing me to choose the best line and lyrics and that I will concentrate on and perform with better lip syncing and this will be in the upcoming weeks.

Editing (Fish eye)

This is a tutorial to create a fish eye look during the video and its more hassle but cost less money and doesn’t take too long all you need to do is upload the video and change a few settings different setting and I was thinking of buying a lens but cost more money than I realised, so now I am going to use this tutorial or any other tutorials that help me with this techniques and I feel that this would have a great effect during the my video and matches the conventions of the other hip hop music videos and how they present their artists.
I know that i have blogged about this before but never the process behind and how it could be produced differently and quickly and now hopefully it could help other people with their ideas.

Location for my chorus (1)

Looking at the different location for my chorus I was thinking about having a plain large wall and just changing the angles because I know that white/cream signifies purity and cleanness to song and that also links to the artist and lyrics trying to change and not do anything sill and get locked up and I know that Jesus and religion was a large part of hip hop history lyrically and visually by physically showing there feeling through moving image (Music video).

when linking this to the lyrics if feel the song get more simple and that it would be best to perform this at one location which will probably be the church and not just because it's close but it has all of the details, space and the room to record.

From visiting this location once of twice I feel that the lighting is very good not too bright but shaded enough to link to the genre and then I will  be applying different editing skill and transition. From feedback people was telling me that I wont get a high amount of marks for being simple, but I am confident that the rest of the video will make up for it and using many different techniques to gather the marks.

I feel some people might interpret it as going against the convention of the old type of hip hop but from my research the old type of music don't have a high amount of detail with the location and is more the performance side to the video but I wanted it to be different to the rest of the song that will be performance with a little bit of narrative.

Name of the atrist and song (1)

The name of the artist or group will be called interference and the meaning of this is called the action of interfering with a process of things that are being interfered with that shouldn't and listening to the song i felt that it was doing the same thing to the industry and changing and the way he develops through the time and this is shown through the song with the different events and proving a point everyone.

The name of the song would be called ''chasing a dream'' because you can tell from the lyrics that he want to grow as a person and develop the skills and atributes but in a way that is different to everyone else and making music which means something to him but also making a large amound of money and comparing himself to his friends that got locked up and doesn't want to end link that.

My storyboard animatic (1)

Animatic's are animated storyboard and they are used for different process but for this one I am going to link all my storyboard on a long timeline in adobe cs6 and with the song which I have been given designed a storyboard for my planning and to make the actual day of recording much easier and during this it gives you the chance to playing around with the timings of the shots seeing if the type of shots and the timing work with the song but also make sure you have a significant amount of lyrics with the right shots and angles to give the best effect and not look odd or out of place and this type of planning gives me an all around pitcher helping out with the day of shooting but watching it through I notice that I misses the last shot off to end the song .

Updated weather .(2)

Was supposed to have a practice session on Saturday 12th but the weather wasn’t good enough and was raining heavily and ruined the day, So again looking at the weather, i feel that the best day for me and him would be Friday and on this day i am planning on practicing and possibly recording  the chorus because it’s one of the easiest parts to film and the week after we have half term and choosing one of the days for both of us and the weather won’t be rubbish and hopefully cloudy and it would be good for the recording of my video.

Ideas for my chorus (2)

Improving my communication skills, i gathered the group together to talk about the chorus and because i wanted to hear people opinions and ideas that they might offer, In the end it came conclusive that because i wanted to go with the narrative rather than performance side i got loads of wide ideas but also different shots that i could perform which is very useful.

The first one says shots of the city quick, cars driving past with the headlights on /Blurring and maybe at night, the narrative having a drug deal going down.
The second one is a boy waiting for his girlfriend with his mates flashes of the time ''his watch’’she's walking along checking herself in the shop window.

The third one says having a circle pan of a city shape, shows mass surroundings. Feet are walking, tracking shot through different scenes being sped up .Clock overlaying different city locations. Going up escalators different places over time or stairs.
Taking all of these ideas i think that i would probably do the first one and the cars driving past and having it changing focus and some of the ideas from the third one with the circle pan of the city, feel walking and tracking shots being sped up and i was thinking of having ideas of him moving around quickly loads of CA Shots and not much performance of him singing , having a different to the actual song and the lyrical side to the song so it become significant when the chorus is on.

Chorus (1)

chorus is inconclusive and I haven't got many ideas about how to represent it , should I go with the narrative or the performance side like the rest of the video , tomorrow I will be asking people for their ideas and feedback so I am able to construct some conclusive ideas to put in my animatic to have a greater idea of what shots I need to do and when and because it is the chorus its normally repeated one two or three time so it will only need to be one idea with one or two extra's to add or expand my idea and to the length of the song .

Production , Practice (1)

I Feel that I have to have a little practice before the actual day , this is so the actors can get a feel for the type of video that I am trying to create but also figure out some of the lyrics and the movements and the way that he is going to perform the lip syncing but the process which will happen on the actual day so its not a shock and is surprised with the type of shots and the length that it might take to get the best shot and professional quality to get the best grade so I think this will be good for the both the actors and me.

Contacted the artist on Facebook and having a convocation about that time and apart from the irrelevant information it all seems good , he agrees to practice on Saturday before dinner for half an hour and because he lives close this wont be a problem .

Just need to get some things sorted , because its only a practice I wont need any props only the camera , script for him and the actual tune and I don't think that it matters if he reads it of the sheet it might then show more of an authentic  practice session and more professional but it would get him more common and more knowledge of the lyrics and how it is spoken so when it comes to the real thing it is much easier .

Making decisions (1)

In my storyboard I had to make a choice whether to mix the locations or to keep each individual one for the different sections of the video , In the end I looked at the conventions of hip hop videos and realised that it differs with the age of the song and if its newer hip hop mixed with different genres they would mix the location and if the song is older they would keep one location or have separate ones for different sections So overall I had the choice whether to go again the conventions or with and I have decided to go with the conventions and have separate locations for the different parts of the song and using the different techniques.

Still unsure About the chorus and still need to plan the different shots because iv had some ideas so show the passage of time and something to link to the lyrics , because from researching the hip hop videos sometimes it usually links to the lyrics or the name of the song in some way and I think I could produce something good , after deciding I am going to ask some people to review the idea and ill post my feedback online .

Transitions between each section of the song either could be a smooth fade , cut , straight cut which is when the shot abruptly ends and the next Shot abruptly begins, form cut which is The cut joins together two pieces of film that contain two similarly shaped objects in similar positions in the frame, Match cut is like the form cut, match cut joins two shots with similar frames together but however it is designed to completely hide the transition from the audience. A fade occurs when the picture gradually turns to a single colour or , usually black, or when a picture gradually appears on screen and would probably be used at the end of the of my song to transitions out easily and A wipe which involves one shot replacing another, traveling from one side of the frame to another and I was thinking about using some of these either at the end or one of them before the chorus start so it become significantly obvious when it is approaching or something else .

Different sections of the video(1)

This will mostly help with my animatic for the storyboard and putting the different sections together throughout next week leading up to filming and the more organised it is the better the result will be.

Organisation skills(1)

During closer to the deadline and knowing that I am having to start and film soon I want to make the best of the time I will have to be very organised so everything goes to plan and I get the best shots and experience rather then regretting mistakes and needing to redo some of the shots wasting more time and Iv got some ideas that will make it much easier to film .

Having official cards that have the shots by shot, specific movements which would be on the back all together so you can just flick through everyone of them whilst shooting or preparing to shoot the video or shots ticking off each one knowing that you have completed but also this would be involved in time management knowing how long it will take for each shots and movement you could calculate the time needed and talk it over with the actors and see when the best time for to produce the video and would be a good way of organising the shots and locations formally and feeling but also looking the part on the production vlogs.

Having a sheet of the lyrics and the specific parts which locations the song I supposed to be in and this would make it less confusing knowing which part will be done where and ticking each part of one by one quickening the production of the video.

Having the actual song on someone's phone or iPod so you can hear how the song is actually said because the physical and the emotion of the video has to look the part but increase the look and make the video more believable and more professional, this might increase the time but I think it will increase the finish to the video .

Checking if the that things are ok and read for the recording for instance if the actors can make it , cameras charged and all the accessories are ready and not lost , have the booklet of shots and angles , the lyrics and that the weathers going to be ok and also making sure the outfits are fitted or it wont match the image I am aiming for and I will loose marks .

Music video reserch (1)

My teacher recommended me to look at this video and compare my research and planning and see if I have the right amount of detail to get this standard of video and when marked this got a high B and but even if its a different type of hip hop I am going to analyse it because it should help.

One of the feature of this video is that its seems that it has quick shots and I notice that loads of things are going off in the video meaning they have done loads of different shots.

At the start of the song the imagery relates with the beat and using the lighting or the quickness of the shots and reinforce the song but during this song even if he has a large variety of shots and starts straight from the starts one after another in a good order something which I have been looking at the mixture of artist and location shots around the start of the video , but I was disappointed with the shakiness of the camera shots and even if he did that for a effect but I don't think it relates to the song and was very noticeable.

Noticed that he used five locations but only used the skate park , graffiti wall and the street more then the other two which were underneath a bridge and a graveyard, out of the five I think I like the skate park ,The graffiti wall and the school location that he used for the chorus and it has like a story to it and implementing the lyrics visually on the cards rather then rapping all the time and I like the different types of editing because it was something that you different really didn't notice , smooth transitions from one location to another rather then choppy.

The lip syncing was very good and I fee that they have practiced it very well , but before watching this I have already organised a practice session so we don't turn up and have to improvise and it turn bad quality .

One of the largest things that this video has helped me with was understanding what it would look like have loads of mixing locations throughout the video ,the mise en scene is an important factor the way the actor is dress makes it look more believable and authentic but also how he has used the lyrics and made visual images(video) that connote the meaning and he does it mostly at the chorus but also throughout smaller parts of the video but because my song is a little different type of hip of I am going to take the ideas and some of the advantages which I have noticed and implement them in my video but also adding some of my own ideas and editing techniques.

Moodboard (1)

This is a moodboards of all the ideas that i think of surronding hip hop , my video and my website all the specific things that i will have to include such as the different types of fonts and also the right conventions .

Brand identity (1)

What creates a brand identity, I think one of the things that makes an artist identity would be the merchandise , products which he or she sells to the public for people to remember them for , their statement on the industry that identifies one seller's product distinctly from other sellers and sometimes a way to be remembered when they have stopped or they have done something to stain the industry another thing people wont forget or it could be the badge or label symbol that people could notice without anyone telling them or without any clue's like Nike or coca cola but in the music industry would be Jay z or Mac Miller because they have made large tracks that are easy to notice when listening to and you can regonise it without knowing the name just the voice.

Visual brand is The recognition and noticeability of a brand, that is influenced by the visual presentation. A brand’s visual identity is the overall look , the visual brand identity is achieved by the using these three elements ,such as specific fonts, colours, and other elements and not every brand identity starts from a brand mark, or logo and from this  it then evolves through different stages and one of the stages ,would brand trust which means the more products that they produce and get a better , bigger would get more reviews, the better the song or album the more people would buy it and keep evolving and over time keeping them customers for a long time and having a guarantee of interest and customers that would buy his album ,like drake and his new album he has became like a mentor to some of the smaller atsits and allowing them on his album and because its such a large industary all of the artists in todays have something to make them different and unique. The second stage would be the performance and then the another things that relates to the brand trust would be performing to his fans, the proof of how good you are by performing on a large stage and  this would reassure  the audience also adding therefore creating a larger audience and fan base , growing your brand to grow from a niche , to mass audience and making more money and revenue over many year to become a main attraction in the industry but genre which why brand identity is very important and with my video i will try and get something to make it different that stands out from the others.

initial ideas for my video (1)

1.''3.33'' starts to walk away in different locations , changing from each one and fading until the song ends .

2.The song starts at 00:19 seconds and ends at 3.33 that's 3:13 of the music.

3.At the start of the song, every one or two beats and i was thinking of changing the different shots not showing much of the locations keep interchanging and then an establishing shot to start the artsit off.

4.Using the locations that I have blogged about I was thinking of using different parts of the song in selected location and then using different types of editing techniques moulding them together and with smaller little clips in between following the artist until he reaches the next location and do the same process again and could become a story and evolve from that and then when the second artist is close to come in the song he would pop up in random shots in the background and more frequently until he shows up and starts to sing his verse .

5.During the chorus shots, linking to the lyrics .
